New York, NY Food Truck Review: The Green Radish

Posted by on May 14, 2014 in Everything Else | 0 comments

Doesn't it look delicious? That's because it is.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of the delicious offerings from the Green Radish food truck for quite some time.  After all, what’s not to love about the fact that just about everything on their vegan, organic menu can be made gluten free (yes!)? And I especially love that I don’t have to queue to place my order (although if they keep getting stellar reviews, that may change). So far, it’s one of New York City’s best-kept vegan secrets.

Gluten-Free Teff Flat Bread

Gluten-Free Teff Flat Bread

I took a really great in-depth herb and spice workshop at the Natural Gourmet Institute last week. It was vegan, but not gluten-free, and so I brought crackers along to make sure I could enjoy the dips we made along with everyone else.  The rest of the class had some lovely little whole wheat flat breads, which looked delicious (and were for sure better than my crackers).  I knew that I had to come home and try my hand at making some gluten-free ones of my own.

Sweet Treats in New York, NY: Vegan Divas Bakery

I stopped by Vegan Divas Bakery one spring afternoon to check out their gluten-free and vegan offerings. They had a raspberry cheesecake (which looked yum), chocolate cake, and chocolate-dipped macaroons.  I decided to try the latter two.

The macaroon was good, but not quite what I was hoping for.  The almonds dominated the flavor of this macaroon, which was also a little too dense and tough for my liking. That said it was a perfectly enjoyable cookie and I had no problems polishing it off!

Key Lime Pie Green Smoothie

It has been a while since I posted a smoothie recipe, so here is a quick and easy one for you.  A few weeks ago my partner asked me to make him a key lime pie.  After an attempt or two that wasn’t quite like the pie he remembered from his youth, I nailed it.  I’ll share that recipe soon, but I decided right then and there that I needed to make a key lime pie smoothie!

Spicy Pancakes with Sweet Potatoes and Cilantro Yoghurt

I’m heading back to New York from DC on a Friday evening and so of course, I’m thinking about food. More specifically, I’m thinking about what to make for this weekend’s brunch.

On Sundays after I’ve been to the gym, my partner and I usually enjoy a great brunch. Most of the time it’s pancakes or tofu scramble. But on occasion I’ll try something new.
