If there is one dish synonymous with Thailand it has to be Pad Thai. Who doesn’t think of rice noodles stir-fried with mung bean sprouts in a sweet and sour sauce with peanuts and tofu whenever the word “Thailand” is uttered? I know I certainly do!

And if there is one place synonymous with Pad Thai, it’s Thip Samai, which is touted by guidebook after guidebook as the place in Bangkok to enjoy Thailand’s iconic meal.  So one evening we decided to check it out.

Coconut Mango Green Smoothie

When I was in Thailand I had a fruit smoothie, or two, every day.  There is nothing that comes close to the sweet and tasty goodness of Thai tropical fruit. Everything, from pineapple to mangoes to watermelon, just tastes sweeter, fresher and better than most fruit in the United States.

Bangkok Restaurant Review: Arawy Vegetarian Restaurant and Wat Suthat

For a couple of days while I was in Bangkok my meetings didn’t start until 10am, which meant I had the luxury of getting up early and going for a run or walk and having breakfast outside of the hotel.  One morning I went to Ethos for a dragon fruit and banana smoothie and some of their delicious granola served over fruit with coconut cream.

This recipe was inspired by my recent trips to Thailand, where the combination of chilies, lime juice, garlic, tomatoes and basil form the basis for many Thai dishes, including the famous sweet, spicy and sour Tom Yam soup.

Bangkok Restaurant Review: Erawan Tea Room

On the Sunday evening I was in Bangkok, I had a dinner meeting with some colleagues to strategize for the week ahead.  I suggested we go to Erawan Tea Room, a small Thai restaurant attached to the Erawan Grand Hyatt hotel.  I had been there a couple of years earlier and recalled really great food in a quiet and pleasant environment that was just perfect for a meeting.  Plus I knew they could cater to me, as well as to my omnivore colleagues.
