Cinnamon Snails 1 CS

Once upon a time, New York City’s food trucks were devoid of many vegan food options. But then, three or so years ago, the Cinnamon Snail blasted on to the scene. Within a few months, Adam Sobel’s vegan food truck gathered a cult-like following among New York City vegans and non-vegans alike. And it was a happy, but rare, occasion when the Cinnamon Snail didn’t have a long, winding line of hungry New Yorkers waiting for lunch.  When news broke that the Cinnamon Snail wouldn’t be serving NYC on a daily basis any more, the lines grew longer and longer every day as everyone tried to get in their last fixes. And I will admit, that I was one of those who spent hours in sub-zero temperatures lining up for sandwiches and donuts on the Snail’s last regular day in the city.

Sea Bakin’ Seaweed Snacks Review

When Sea of Change Trading Co. contacted me and asked me if I’d be interested in trying some of their seaweed snacks, I instantly said yes. I like sea vegetables and there are very good reasons why I should be incorporating more of them into my diet. They are great sources of bioavailable iron and iodine and I’m trying to increase my intake of both at the moment. Plus, they have good amounts of vitamin C, which increases iron absorption. They are also a good source of antioxidants and they could even have antiviral properties. So yeah, bring on the nori!

The Beyond Meat Beast Burger, with the works!

When I first heard that Beyond Meat was planning to release a vegan, gluten-free “beefy” burger last summer called the Beast Burger, I was instantly excited. I love burgers. I really do. But let’s be honest. There are few vegan burgers that really satisfy. There are few vegan burgers that you can really sink your teeth into. And there are even fewer vegan burgers that can stand up to the works. And while some seitan-based burgers may get partially there, for me they are out of the question because of the gluten.

Now, “The works?” you may very well ask. Yes. The works.

Product Review: Endangered Species Créme Filled Dark Chocolate

Cream and chocolate. There is nothing better, nothing.  Since going vegan, I’ve sincerely missed cream-filled chocolate bars and found little that would satiate that desire. Until now!

I was beside myself with excitement when I spotted the new line of Endangered Species Créme Filled Dark Chocolate bars in a NY health food store. So much so that I couldn’t stop at just one. I bought all six!

Product Review: Daiya Cheese Lover’s and Fire-Roasted Vegetables Pizzas

My partner and I love pizza. We would eat it just about every meal if we could (and if it were healthy)! Due to my “special needs” I usually make my own these days, but sometimes when I’m feeling lazy it’s nice to be able to pull out a frozen pizza from the fridge and pop it in the oven for a quick meal. The only problem was that we hadn’t really found a gluten free, vegan pizza that we really loved. Until now.
