Pomegranate and Banana Green Smoothie

One thing I love about this time of year is pomegranates! I first fell in love with pomegranates when I spent time in the Caucasus where they are both a staple part of the cuisine and the culture.  In Armenia, for example, pomegranates symbolize good luck and fertility and they asthma feature in Armenian art, crafts and literature. I even picked up some beautiful pomegranate silver earrings there!  

This green smoothie recipe combines pomegranate arils, banana, kale and hemp protein to make a superfood-packed, filling and healthful breakfast. It’s delicious!

Pomegranate and Banana Green Smoothie

  1. 3 cups chopped raw kale
  2. 2 bananas, frozen and chopped
  3. 1 cup pomegranate arils
  4. 3 tbsps hemp protein powder (or other protein powder)
  5. 1 cup almond milk
  6. Stevia, to taste
  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth.
