What’s for Thanksgiving dinner? Lots of good things!

Posted by on Nov 28, 2013 in Everything Else | 0 comments

I’m not American, so Thanksgiving is not a holiday I grew up with. However, I do love the ritual of cooking and enjoying time with family and friends over a delicious and healthy meal. I used the opportunity to make a meal for my partner and I to enjoy together (and it’s one we’ll be eating for the next several days!)

Warsaw, Poland Restaurant Review: Marrakesh Café

After so enjoying my meal at Tel-Aviv Café and Deli, I knew I had to check out Marrakesh Café, it’s sister restaurant, as well.  Marrakesh has a more extensive menu, with additions such as a Moroccan tagine and eggplant moussaka, sandwiches and an all-day buffet. Their set of mezze, or kemia (they use the Moroccan word), also has more variety. Their space is bigger too, but just as funky and very comfortable.

What’s for dessert? Black Bottom Cupcakes

Before my last trip to Thailand, my partner asked me to make him some cake.  I had just received Fran Costigan’s Vegan Chocolate and when we were browsing through it the black bottom cupcakes caught both of our eyes.  They looked amazing, with a rich cream cheese filling surrounded by chocolate cake.  Although the recipe wasn’t gluten-free, I decided to try my hand at making a gluten-free version. It worked better than I could have hoped!

Warsaw, Poland Restaurant Review: Krowarzywa

I had read about Krowarzywa, a new vegan burger joint, on Happy Cow. The reviews were all glowing, and it sounded amazing.  I wasn’t sure that they would be able to cater for a gluten-free diet, but thought there was no harm in checking it out.

Gingerbread Pancakes

Mmmmm…. What could be better on a cold autumn morning than hot vegan and gluten-free gingerbread pancakes?  Not much! Especially when they are topped with some vegan butter, maple syrup and fruit.

I paired the pancakes with slices of persimmon and the combination of flavors was just amazing!  It was like all of the good things about fall on a plate. Yum, yum! I bet some banana would also be amazing.
